On a side note - I just saw the preview to Alexander. Does anyone think it a bit odd that films about Alexander, King Arthur, and Troy have all been released lately? Anyone else also think it odd that they almost all follow precisely the example set in Gladiator?

I dunno...seems to be a cash-grab - but then again, Oliver Stone directs Alexander - he doesn't direct just any old film (aside from Any Given Sunday *shudder*)

Kay really now...I thought that
Anchorman would be a terrible film...but I just saw this preview and I have got to say...I was nearly crying in laughter. FROM A PREVIEW PEOPLE. I thought it would be so stupid. In fact I am sure it IS so stupid. But I must see it, it looks HILARIOUS. Almost on par with Super Troopers IF that is in fact possible. Wow.

I fucken hate Javascript. Just when you think you've got something figured out, BAM! new problem straight to the nuts. Gonna need to call
tech support. In other news, I'm out of beer. There is a keg in our fridge with a half eaten chicken resting on it. Work gave me the day off today, I think they're training newbs and don't want the bad influence around. Bad to the bone, that's me. I don't think the new managers know my real name, seeing as I'm switching name tags every shift. I was Gerrard last week and Patricia on Tuesday. This new anti-get-in-shit tactic has resulted in fewer written warnings for yours truly.

I'm out of things to say but I like typing and bloggin', so I'll swear like a fucken sailor. Fucken shit fuck cock shit, shitty shitty bang bang. Alright I'm done here, on to friendster.

Sweet jebus it's been a long time since I've posted. Went to the Pinery with friends from home this weekend - was good times minus the torrential downpours, leaky tents, waits at the entrance for cars, and a whole slew of other little nuisances. I didn't feel so hot about staying another night so I went home early with Rob who had to work.

I have come to the conclusion I'm not terribly fond of camping - mostly because if it rains yer fuct. On a boat, you can just hunker down in the nice warm cabin and read comfortably in the V-birth - in a tent - you get leaked on, it's cold, and if you touch the sides you are doomed to allow condensation to take its course.

Today I plan on taking Venne for a nice walk and then finishing Halo: The Fall of Rise, haha I am finally reading it. The writing isn't exactly stupendous, but its neat to get the background info on a lot of things - ie. what the Pillar of Autumn ACTUALLY is.

In other news - one pound of beef takes three quarters of a gallon of crude oil to produce. Turns out Americans eat roughly 70lbs of beef a year on average - depending on which source you trust - which equates to roughly 53.5 gallons or TWO HUNDRED liters of crude oil a year. Now - as someone (my dad) pointed out, to produce vegetables probably costs a similar amount, but hopefully it's a little less, if someone has figures on that I'd be interested to see. Anyway, long story short - go vegetarians go! (and go Flames go - the hopes of the entire Canadian nation rests on your shoulders to take back what is rightfully ours)

To-Do List
--------------

1) Finish mini-portfolio site and submit to Moontaxi.com by Thor's day
2) Hound coworkers to take shifts for crazy-go-nuts weekend
3) Resurrect the Beast for dad (400Mhz box in my closet)
4) Pirate entire Shakespeare collection for class
5) Ask Paul stuff
5a) Paul, you were saying something about my internet connection and playing Unreal 2004?
5b) Paul, is there a connection for your volume control to the two satellite speakers?
6) Read Brad's collection the Ray comics
7) Go on bike ride
8) Make new banner
9) Hype up RJD2 show
10) Get a life

update re: #4 and #9

I managed to find all the dude's books in text format. One snag though, the pages and lines aren't numbered. When Professor Russel tells the class to turn page so and so, and line whatever, you'll see one frantic student flipping through his stack of printer paper for said section. Actually I didn't really pirate the books, they were available at
Project Gutenberg. Whatever, I can't wait till the second summer semester when I'll be photocopying the textbook for Intellectual Property and Copywright.

RJD2 show kicked ass! I'm off to finish #7

I saw Troy on Friday night...taken me this long to make a post because I wasn't really sure what to write, and had a lot things to stop me in between (ie. sleep, work, LAN, sleep...). Anyway, some people have really disliked this film, and I dont think I've heard of anyone who absolutely adores it. I fall into neither the category of disliking it, but nor do I absolutely adore it. I was very content to have seen it in the theater.

It was based on one of the oldest (if not the oldest, I dont know for sure) epic poems ever written, the Illiad. Although, since I have not read it (which I plan on fixing), I have to question whether or not it's entirely based on the Illiad - because at the end it shows Paris handing the sword of Troy to Aeneas - who is the founder of Rome according to the Aeneid. So maybe it took some liberties and threw in some stuff from the Aeneid, I don't really know, but either way I liked that reference. Anyway, being as it was based on a story some 3000 years old, I think it translated wonderfully into modern terms, but I think that is why a lot of people DON'T like it...because it has some themes that just aren't very prevalent in day-to-day life.

But I liked it because it had a lot of elements of classic film, as well as using the technologies available to make the film on a scale in the same vein as recognizable epic films like Lawrence of Arabia or A Bridge Too Far. The writing WAS a bit cliched at times but then again, how do you adapt a story originally written in ancient Greek - that was a poem no less - into modern-day Americanized English. Some people said the acting was bad, but I think that is attributable to the writing being poor. But yah...all in all, I enjoyed it. Its not a bad film by any means, but nor is it as good as the recent LotR trilogy or Master and Commander films.

Right, time for lunch!

Work licked so much balls today. The stream of costumers was ridiculous. Who can blame them, 90% of the store was on sale. I came home to find a LAN party and 5 missing GBs on my box. Hey Paul, thought u and the guys were gonna be here all night, I passed out, hope u understand, 5 hours of sleep and a shift that started at 8am.

Mary-Kate and Ashley on SNL was bomb. I can't/won't elaborate, such magic should not be confined by words.

RJD2 Monday night at the Phoenix, picking up tickets after work I am uber excited. I don't know what to expect with regards to crowd, and how the show will go down. Why I say that is because I don't know how to classify his music. Its hiphop, electronic, funk, and soul thrown into a blender and pureed into a delicious mix that goes down smooth without the commercialized aftertaste. If you like DJ Shadow u'll like this dude.

tunes: R. Kelly - Gigolo
running applications: MSN, Winamp, IE 6.0, C-Media Mixer
munchies: 6" Meatball Sub, with everything except pineapples and hot pepper.

Night all.

Haven't got much to say, just want to point out
Jesse and Jono's trip to Europe and laugh (with sympathy, honestly, that sucks guys) over their Tuesday fiasco with water and stupid French museums. Here is a hot tip for you fellas and everyone in general regarding French museums - if there is not a half hour line up (or in the case of my parents and I - a two hour wait, ONE KILOMETER LONG, mass of humans, not even joking...) to get in...it's not open. We saw the fact that they were closed on Tuesdays too. Makes NO sense. But then again, who ever said the French were known to make sense.

If any citizens of France are offended by my comment, feel free to bite me Frenchies! Long live Britannia!

I want my marks! I feel like Lisa Simpson right now, grade me! Evaluate me! Stupid Rosi and her lazy ass. I was checking courses for September, it appears I no longer have to go downtown for a Woodsworth class as it is offered at Erindale. WDW260 is now ERI260H5.

Organizational Behaviour:
Introduction to the nature of organizations and the behaviour of individuals and groups within organizations, including such topics as culture and diversity, reward systems, motivation, leadership, politics, communication, decision-making, conflict, group processes and organizational change.

Sucks I don't get to sample downtown's scenery and ambience, but I guess it relieves potential scheduling conflicts. I just hope the shitty stigma from the number "260" doesn't come true... *ahem* CCT260. Work at 6:30pm, it is now 12:26pm, I am out of things to do already. Time to wipe the blood from my wheels and go for a bike ride.

Today was absolutely beautiful. I went outside for a quick bike ride to bask in the sunlight and found a little bike trail near our place. The ride back was something out of a movie. Sun shining on me, suburban backdrop, kids playing on the street. Then I was ambushed by three low flying birds. Two just missed my face and the other one went through the spokes of my bike. I turned back and saw it struggling to flap it's wings... Sorry little dude.

*tweet tweet* *ding* *wha-pahh* *ding* *yelpy tweet*

It basically sounded like a Pinko chip hitting those pegs, only without the $25,000 prize at the end.

Time for another Thought of the Day:

If Waterloo is so good for cheap beer...ie. Phil's with $1.75 beers and mixed drinks...they why isn't it called Beerloo?

This was another Thought of the Day.

So in about five hours I write my first and only exam, and then I'll be done. I got up at 6am today to drive Ryan to work, I thought it was a good idea to get myself up bright and early to study but in hindsight, after having had like three naps I think it was a dumb idea. Oh well. Third year is over pretty much now...what a rollercoaster...up at the beginning, plummeting in the middle, mostly on Boxing day, then going back up again to now, where overall I find myself happier than I was at the beginning of the year I think. Anyway, yah, good times overall Id think. And lunch time now. Peash!

Ted Nugent is soloing his way into my subconscious. Paul, can't get enough of Stranglehold.

Came back from scarby this morn. Funny how 3 months away makes you feel like an alien. I shouldn't bitch, Andy and Brad go home on decade intervals. I couldn't help waving my trigger finger in the air once I reached Eglington though. How do I spell it, "BLA-OW!" that's it. Got our buddy Mark reeeeetarded. I thought the fucker was done when he starting yelling "CAAACK!" at the pool hall, but continued to impress the lot of us after he passed out on the can at Pizza Pizza. Hero of the night.

READY, STEADY, GO!

Wow, I actually am continuing the Thought of the Day series! So here is my thought of the Day:

Once there was a way to get back homeward. Once there was a way to get back home. Sleep pretty darling do not cry, and I will sing a lullaby. Golden slumbers fill your eyes, smiles awake you when you rise. Sleep pretty darling do not cry, and I will sing a lullaby. Boy - you're gonna carry that weight, carry that weight a long time. I never gave you my pillow, I only send you invitations, and in the middle of the celebrations I break down. Oh yeah alright, are you gonna be in my dreams tonight? And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make.

Thank you Paul and John. Oh my, ya'can tell wot I've beeen a'listenin' to todaay.
