It has been a festive holiday indeed. Nourishment has been in the form of wine, turkey, and chocolates. When the wine runs low I just take advantage of the hospitality of those in Scarborough and raid their cellars. I've been in and out of the east end. Meeting up at pool halls, Chinese restaurants, and dark alleys. Still haven't seen a few people but the next few days should remedy that. Nothing of importance to report except I have been takin'er easy and enjoying holiday adventures whenever possible.

My new year's plans have been assigned by mission control. Fam-jam at the Sanchez residence. I have spent like 99.9% of new years with family. Its usually quiet and humble... meaning I'm sober and feel like a giant loser when I hear other stories which include trunk rides and breakfast with strippers. At least the cousins will be there. We all got together the other day and made a pact to get plastered in front of our parents. You know, to make them proud. Hopefully they'll disown us and let us do our thing during new years. That's the plan.

My new year's resolution of 1998 basically stated, "I will never make another new year's resolution." This will be broken with my 2005 resolution. My new year's resolution for 2005 will be to start making resolutions. It doesn't mean I have one, but it means I have given myself permission to make resolutions from here on in. If all goes well, I'll be content with myself by 2010.

Forecasted New Year's Resolutions:

2006: Grow back my balls and toss out the tired insecurities I've adopted in their absence.
2007: Finally get license and purchase a flying car.
2008: Learn to skate and purchase a hoverboard.
2009: Train Cyborg army and take over the world.

See ya then.

So I finished Half Life 2 today. And I have one big huge freaking problem with it. What is it you ask? Why let me tell you....IT ENDS LIKE HALO 2 DID!!!! It left itself WIDE fucking open for a third part, and really created as many questions as it answered!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY is this new trend in video games starting where the creators DON'T FINISH GAMES!! ;sedhflisdgkfjsdgbfkhsdjbfsdfsdfsd

But I'm not bitter. It's a fantastic game. The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is fun and challenging but not impossible, and the storyline is kickass - although you never hear Gordon talk, which is gay, and I know, it's also just stemming from the first one, but yah, great game in the end. I would really argue that the single player of Half Life 2 goes above and beyond Halo 2 in terms of just about everything.

The graphic styles in both are vastly different so saying one is better than the other is a bit unfair, though I do prefer Halo 2's originality and beautiful background scenery. Half Life 2 does an amazing job of action within the environments though - moreso than Halo.

But the action itself is not as repetitive, and keeps you on your toes far more than Halo 2, and allows you to immerse yourself into the environment more, and enjoy it more than Halo 2 does. The weapons are not quite as creative as Halo 2s, and poorly balanced - if you have a shotgun - then really, you don't need anything else (or the gun at the end). Uhm...yah there is tons more to it, but I would just ramble on, as I always do. Suffice it to say that Half Life 2 is way cool, far far better than I expected and definitely worth the wait. I would say that it basically sits next to Halo 2 as my favourite game of 2004.

New Will Ferrell movie in March,
Melinda and Melinda. It's a Woody Allen movie so I am interested to see what comes of it. There is a damned good line at the end of the trailer though:

Mr.Ferrell
"You're having an affair with Steve Walsh. He's wonderful, he's clever, he's smart, he's fabulously wealthy!"

So I know I've talked tons and tons about Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, but I just can't get enough. If I had the time, I'd watch the thirteen hours straight of it. It develops like an insanely good movie, with subplots, bizarre tangent stories, and incredible character development. I think that really is what makes me love the program so much - the characters are fleshed out to just ridiculous levels of complexity and humanity. I'd go so far as to say that it's the best character development I've ever seen, be it in film or television. It even seems to top long-running television programs that pride themselves on character development. It's just insane.

Not to mention how damned cool the world that the stories take place in. I am wathcing through the episodes again on the two new DVDs I bought - volumes 2 and 3. It takes me to episode 12. Watching them again, I see how indepth the makers of the series are with the world that surrounds Motoko and Batou. And yah, really, it's like a movie, in episode 26, they roll credits like it is actually a movie. It's just ridiculous.

What is more ridiculous is that I'll actually buy all thirteen fucking DVDs at $25+ a pop to get them in subbed and dubbed versions that are well done. And more ridiculous than that is that I just realized that the last episode of the first season ties straight into the first episode of the second season. That is cool as fuck.

Aight I'm done here. Just had to talk about how good it was again.

Well, it's been a week of debauchery. Lots of work, lots of looking at hostels, drinking, video games, movies, and a concert on Friday. Saw Alexisonfire for the fourth time in precisely one year. They were good, even cooler was to see the Constantines as a surprise guest. My buddy Jesse was quite shocked to see such a band as the surprise guest. Especially because Jesse saw the Constantines' first show ever in Brampton at a church there. Anyway yah, it's been fun, and soon I shall be home again for the holidays.

To Brad and Eric - we are changing plans a bit boys. An executive decision has been passed down - Prague portion of trip will be shortened. Switzerland part of trip will be extended (or in fact actually start to exist) Yah, we'll go to Switzerland on the way to France and Barcelona. See some mountains, maybe go to Geneva and see the U.N. Good times!

Yah okay I'm done, got so little of interest to state. Except that its FUCKING COLD!!! -34 with windchill!!!

My sleeping pattern is in shambles. I wouldn't even call it a pattern. A pattern implies some sort of order (which I clearly lack). Everyone is sleeping and I'm here waiting for my Eric Clapton album to finish downloading. I'm tempted to pull an all nighter to sort myself out, but that idea is pretty stupid too. I can only imagine what an unnecessary all nighter will do to my body. My mind is still in exam mode and feel like I should be reading some powerpoint handouts and cursing at 100 lb. textbooks.

Got the new Thornley album. Its the lead singer from Big Wreck doing his thing. I feel like I should defend myself for liking this, but it is cool. The dude can kill the guitar and he sounds like Chris Cornell. Its catchy rock. That may be a simplified review but its because I'm inarticulate and I simply like it.

Headed home on Sunday to chill with my family. If u ask them, chilling entails repairs, cleaning, and painting some random wall. I don't mind though. I'm still unfamiliar with the house and any kind of introduction would be welcome.

Me: Sup house?
House: Sup Drix.

I'm a nostalgic fool and miss 69 Sundance. If not for the wicked house number but the crazy memories inside. You'll catch me walking by the old neighborhood during the next couple of weeks. Maybe break into my room for old times sake.

Here's some
CCIT homework to keep you busy.

Raging Alcoholic Boy Drunk Report:
Okay so really, I didn't get altogether drunk last night, just slightly buzzed off of some sweet sweet sweet Baileys. I can't believe we don't have a brewery...brewery? Vineyard? What the hell makes Baileys? Anyway, I cant believe we dont have the place that makes that sweet beverage have a pipe directly into our house.

Played some awesome poker here at Jesse's with the man himself, Hendrix, Colin, Jake and Chris. Was good times aside from Hendrix getting like seven fucking flushes off the river. That foo managed to win like 40 bucks off of mostly luck. I personally got burned hard in the final hand of the game (as did Colin) when he and I went in for about 9 bucks each, and Hendrix joined us. Hendrix had nothing till the river. Then he got a flush to defeat my two pair of aces and fives, and Colin's two pair of Aces and Jacks. Boooo.

Anyway, good times with the poker. Then mosied on over to South Side Louis' for some cider, some dry gin Martini, and some Long Island Ice tea. Good times were had by all. Good freaking food too. And then the fireplace. Oh my the fireplace. Was only by that sucker for the last half hour or so but my oh my is the fireplace ever the place to be...next to. Not in. Then we watch Colin play some Team Fortress Classic, good times to laugh.

Apparently I snore a lot (already knew that, no big surprise for me!)

And today we are off to Steve's Music Store, and then to the Paramount to see Ocean's Twelve. Then tonight I shall FINALLY watch the end of the first season of Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex to figure out who the hell the Laughing Man is. And then I shall lay some smack down in Halo 2. (even though I got the smack laid down onto me yesterday...four games played...dead last in three, 2nd in one...beaten by a level two rumble pit player - although he IS a level twelve in Big Team Battle and Team Skirmish)

WOoooooooooooooo I am enjoying my weekend off.

DONE. D O N E. I AM DONE.

Dear god. My paper, with images, bibliography, title page, footnotes, comes in at a WHOPPING 34 pages. Seven THOUSAND words. It triples the length of the last paper I wrote. It is without a doubt the single largest paper I've ever written.

My dad read it over and said he likes the flow of it, although my mom apparently discovered some grammar problems after I'd already sent it to the prof. But I am just so happy to be finished that I don't care.

So tonight I celebrate. I am gonna stop by a LCBO and get that huge freaking Heineken bottle that Andy has, or get a minikeg for myself. Gonna get freaking CRUNK.

And expect a Raging Alcoholic Boy Drunk Report. Oh my how sweet it shall be.

Ta ta for now. PEACE OUT CCT333, VCC336, CCT352, FAH391, AND CCT400!!!!!!!! TWO MONTHS TO NEW ZEALAND!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

man it's been forever since i've posted on here. but as andy was saying, we've been keeping pretty busy around here. last friday, and the Rise Against show plus ridiculousness was fucking awesome. a serious thank you to andy for taking me to his sweet contest winning concert. during that evening we even managed to make a stop in at the elusive christopher colwell's place for some NHL 2005, and he clearly illustrated that he is just way the fuck better than us at that game. now if only he'd get around to getting xbox live then we could get some serious competition going.

i also got a job at andy's place of buisness, galaxy broadband, and i start that tomorrow morning, while also working at sunrise records in the evenings.

i need to say a HUGE thank you to the lovely ladies Stella and Grace who helped me a ton on my end of term tests. i was the first one done school around here for a change, but it's gonna be a long week and a half till i can go home with all this two job nonesense.

speaking of home, it'll be like the third time i've been back to bruce county this year i believe, with the other trips totaling about 6 days in all or something crazy. the parents sold the house this summer and tore down the cottage so it's not even gonna be the same place anymore. but now they're renting some place in Walkerton which will be cool, cause now i can just stumble home from Rob's Sports Bar instead of being the annoying drunken sibling/son that always requires a designated driver when he comes home to visit for a weekend or something.

i just got back from dropping miss jennifer lo off at pearson international airport and she's on her way back to the land-next-to-the-land-of-the-rising-sun, aka Hong Kong.

that prrrrrreety much brings us all up to date, and alls that's left for me is to get professional at Halo 2, and remind the boys around here that they can't touch my soccer slam or mario tennis SKILLLZ!

haha.

So, I have just written my third test in three days. Quite an ordeal that was. I can't believe how screwed I am on them all though. Whatever. Graduation is only now like five months away. Five months people. That will be four years of school out of the way with. What's more, that will be the end of a full 19 years of school in the traditional sense. NINETEEN YEARS. That is a freaking long, long time. And in five months, it's over. FIVE MORE MONTHS IS ALL. And in that time I will party, go to New Zealand, and then afterward I have a trip to Europe and flight school to look forward to.

My God I'm so excited.

But first I have this essay to write.
Meeehhhhhhhh.

I should be studying but I'd much rather Blog. Apparently the word Blog is the biggest buzzword for 2004, according to some cracked out Internet survey.

So it's been a while since I've posted. I'll give those who haven't already heard me bitch the rundown:
In the past seven days I've handed in a group project, written a quiz (and did worse on that one than the one I wrote
drunk...), handed in another group project, written a ten page paper (did that in some six or seven hours total writing time...even got in some sleep that night!), written a test, handed in a fun advertising project, and prepared for my two remaining tests (tomorrows and Wednesdays), and also for my super fun 20 page paper due Saturday. I also saved the world from Lex Luthor, cured cancer, and walked on water.

No Halo, mostly no MSN, and very little beer. Oh beer, how I miss it.

On another note, I have been listening to the Sparta album Porcelain with more attention in the past few days. Turns out I missed one of the best god damned albums of the year. I had it since June, and I barely listened to it, jebus I'm an idiot. The album is a masterpeice of layered guitar, beautiful melodies, and epic sonic assaults. I love it to death. Hurts all the more now that we didn't see them with Incubus...but alas, next time.

Anyway, I should probably study, so I'll talk with you all again very soon. There may even be (dare I say it...) a Raging Alcoholic Boy drunk report on Saturday. Looks like Mr.Estabillo, Mr.MacKenzie, Mr.Few, and Mr.Day have a date with some alcohol that afternoon.

Till next time - snowstorms are only fun if they actually cancel class. Otherwise you take an hour and a half to get to a test you really aren't prepared for at all, and you nearly have a heart attack thinking about missing the entire thing cuz yer so late.

NO MORE HISTORY!

I've been reading this book all freaking day, and now I just wanna chuck it out my window. I guess I'll wait for Andy to get home, then I'll nail his head as he walks in.

Basically I've split up chapters between 2 other ppl in my class. I hafta email them my notes by the end of tonight. I am 53.75% complete. I'm glad that we split up the work, seeing as how I would have never started studying until the last minute. But seriously it hurts. At this point burning the book and failing the mid-term seems pretty damn appealing.

Motivation to trudge along include:
1) the responsibility i have to the other ppl giving me their notes
2) Stills playlist
3) Christmas Holidays
4) the prospect of spewing Canadian Labour History factoids (whenever the need arise)

Distractions:
1) Blogger
2) a messy room
3) newly installed After Effects (I'm curious if the importing and exporting of SWF files will retain their vector properties)
4) coming up with a distraction for this list
5) red bikinis
6) stuff in general

Since my distraction list is bigger than my motivation list, the only logical course of action is to drop my homework and play some Mario Power Tennis.

game, set, and match, Shy Guy - - -

Matter VS Spirit

I just woke up. Its like 5:20am. I'm well rested cuz I passed out at like 9pm last night after an all nighter for the CCT333 assignment. Like passed the fuck out, glasses on, body contorted, and one leg on the floor. Now Brad and I have a Funrensics test tomorrow. Gonna be a fun day lemme tell you.

Yea, Tracey thinks we didn't do all too hot on that presentation. I think we did alright and shouldn't fret. You can only try so hard until you hit the brick wall of exhaustion.

I checked my UTM webmail. I didn't end up making that CCIT website committee. Nuts.

I am aching for a jam session.

Keep it movin' ppl. Keep it movin'.
