Daylight savings time saved my ass. Last night was the first day I got more than four hours of sleep in like two weeks. I got up feeling refreshed and energized. Then Paul comes home and tells me my clocks are wrong and I have an extra hour! Feck'en A!

More work related news: Manager in charge of scheduling found out I was quitting and offered less hours if it would help with school and what not. She's one of the cool managers and I appreciate the offer, but I don't want to be caught in retail hell during the most festive of holidays. So I'll just say no thank you.

Happy Halloween!!! Or as we like to call it around here, Almost-Halo-Ween. November 9th is just around the corner which means we're all going to drop out pretty damn soon.

I just finished watching Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.
First of all let me say that although I only found out about this film recently, I had been very eagerly anticipating it. The fact that I am now obsessed with the series furthered my desire to see the film.

But this is not like the series, nor is it like the first film. Indeed, in this film much time has passed since the series takes place, or the original. I read a review about it stating that this is not an action film with deep undertones, but rather a philosophical film with brief action. I would argue that is slightly misguided, as some of the action sequences in the film blew my mind. One in particular towards the end just made me drool in awe of how stunningly beautiful the animation is.

So my next point is related to exactly that - the animation. Oh. My. God. A freaking Monet painting has nothing on how intensely beautiful this film was. The entire film oozes with atmosphere and seems almost more real than reality itself. The amalgamation of CGI and traditional animation is almost flawless. I didn't think it possible for the two to be so seamlessly integrated but this film proved that wrong.

The story itself is pretty whack too. I am still a little confused about how one storyline links to another (the translation doesn't quite...well...translate...chalk that up to fansubing). But altogether its extremely engrossing and unbelievably intelligent. I cannot wait for an English dub to come out so I can follow it more closely (trying to keep up with philosphy by reading it before the subtitle disappears is difficult to say the least).

Overall, I argue this film is very compelling - perhaps moreso than the first. It really is just such a good film - go and see it!

Well...I must admit. I did like Club 107. It was pretty awesome. I had a really, really shitty time once I lost my keys and ohhh my you didn't want to get on my bad side at that point but the bar was good. And it is just keys.

So some highlights -
1) Mosh pit with Gabriel. That kid likes to fucking mosh.
2) Three chicks grinding me. At once. That is quite the feat I can tell you.
3) Running into a guy whose name I THINK is Dan. Super weird, he is like "HEY! Caledon Propane!" This of course sets off alarm bells in my head. Anyway yah, turns out its a guy from the night shift whose name, as I said, I think is Dan. He shaved off his beard so he looked totally different but that was cool in a strange "I don't really know you even though I saw you every weekday for three months" kinda way.
4) The dancers. Whoa boy.
5) Well this isn't a highlight so much as it is just a really cool factor about the bar. Well, it's cool! I can't say I've been to a place that is quite as well designed as a club. But then again, I don't go to clubs, so maybe that explains it.

Work today was kickass, I sold a digital camera. Made the company moula. Made me happy.

Now I sleep.

My body is in shambles.

My ears are still ringing from 107 last night. It was a messed up night. I haven't been that disorientated in sometime. We gotta thank Eric for the hookup in the line, otherwise we would have been royally fuct. It was like the 10th anniversary for the live to air there and it was rammed.

Highlights include broken down golf cart shots from an ice sculpture (the term, "ice luge" comes to mind), the rockette girls, Killing in the Name, and the endless hotties beautifying the landscape.

Lowlights(?) include Paul losing his keys, losing my hearing, and random drunkie starting shit. I have major beef with this. I often get labelled as Fight Hendrix around here, but the truth of the matter is that ppl start shit with me. Not the other way around. I avoid trouble whenever possible and prefer a good handshake to headbuts. I must look like a giant
pinata to drunk ppl. But what they don't know is I hit back, and instead of candy I explode with knuckle sandwiches. Make rough love not war.

Hangover shift story: Very first thing I had to do was run back items from returns. Five steps on the floor and I knock over a bin full of soccer balls and litter the front of the store with them.

Dinner & relaxing.

Well, I have a lot of things to report.
First off - I saw Lostprophets with Mr.Cale and Ms.Lo last night. Finally, after three years I saw them. Made me so happy...and yet, I was disappointed for one fact and one fact only - they only played ONE song from the first album. Now, admittedly, it was the song I screamed out for them to play (Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja) but I was quite stunned that they played NONE of the other songs they've done. But otherwise they put on a good show! They are musically quite talented, and fairly tight. My only major complaint was that the singer is a pretty arrogant guy for where their band is in terms of sales - but that might be a consequence of years of touring in Europe and not much time here tied with a lack of airplay here. Who knows, but I am happy I saw them at last.

Second - I have been watching GHost in the Shell again today. Bought the Volume 1 DVD too. Comes with a music CD. I gotta say....I love this show. It has got a maturity and depth that I don't think I've ever seen in a television series, let alone an animated one. I really love it and encourage everyone to watch it - especially because the artwork is on par with the film, if not slightly better.

Third - I am still sick, but all my schoolwork is FINALLY freaking done. Thank god. I was so beat from it all. But now it's alllll done. Till the next hell week!

November 9th is soon people. SOON. SO SOON. Oh heavenly day.

Just so everyone is aware, say your goodbyes to Andy, as he gave me his cold, even though I specifically told him not to because this week is the crucial for me in terms of health. So yah. Gonna kill him, just letting you all know.

Oh
My
God.
The latest Strongbad is perhaps the pinnacle of Strongbad humour. I am so utterly impressed by the ever-deepening levels of social context and satire. Or something.

Point is, it's funnnnny.

Whisper quiet, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

silly me, I make a post about Superman and then I don't make a post about the superhuman feats of House 90. They did a spectacular job of dinner for thanksgiving and were extremely hospitable. Congrats on the fantastic night and I definitely look forward to the next event, it should be an absolute blast.

For those who aren't in the know, House 90 is down the street from us and consists of Ben, Marty, Dan and Andrew. All very good lads, and very much excellent friends and neighbours for House 70.

For those who aren't in the know regarding House 70, (cuz I got asked about this recently) house 77 is the number of our house in first year residence, and house 70 is merely our current number on our street.

Wow. I am pretty shocked.
Superman has died. Sorry to Mr.Reeves' family, it is an awful thing to endure and he will be sorely missed. Wow that sucks.

Tune: Ed Harcout - Apple Of My Eye
Attire: Semi-pang-ba-hi
Mood: Exhausted

Work News: I'm on my final written warning then TERMINATION! I've never been so happy :) Unfortunately they offered to rip up all the documentation on me if I behaved until December cuz coworkers and hot moms dig me. I almost yelled, "Then I'd have to start all over again!" Today was so freaking busy. I can usually fake a superb customer service smile but the frown was in full effect. :( <---- just like that.

Art Show News: A lot of fun. Went with Andrea to check out my cousin's second show of the year. Chilled at Sneaky Dee's before, it was my first time there and it felt like home haha. Brukk up chairs, dark corners, just really chill. When we got to Swallow the place wasn't as packed as their first show, and not as many people as before. It was still a lot of fun. There was a cool coloring contest and I got to play with crayons again. Art+beer+bboys+ridiculous-filipas makes for a very enjoyable night. I dunno whappened to Brad, Jenn, Al, and my friend Jon from work, who all said they'd check it out.

Turkey Day News: Going home, eating turkey, gonna get fed for a month. Happy Spanksgiving everyone. If we are what we eat, then we're all gravy!

Currently I am listening to the Traffic soundtrack. I bought it in the first three days of university when a large group of us went to Erin Mills Towncenter (before I even knew what it was called or where it was) and then to the old location of Loblaws (currently the Sportmart and dollar store). That week was probably the single best week of my life - and every time I listen to this album it brings me right back to the sunny afternoon I spent unpacking my things, the evening at Toronto Island, the march through downtown, the super late nights and early mornings. The exhaustion, the unknowing feeling in my gut...it was a feeling I've never been able to achieve again. But this year has been coming awfully close. And come July of 2004, I KNOW I will get that feeling again, or a better one.

Sorry, just reminiscing here. But oh my, all of you should try thinking back to that one week, or one day that made you the happiest in life. It's good times.

Seems I haven't posted since my birthday. That is quite a long time. So a quick recap - I am carrying on the tradition at Battery Plus. Seems okay. Boss is cool, coworker is nice but perhaps not the best of salespeople...or in fact good at dealing with customers at all. In fact he's awful at it, but hey whatever.

Other news - new The Music album is fucking awesome, as is the new Chevelle, and Hopesfall rocks too. I like sleep. I like beer. Cheat Commandos is hilarious, as is Strongbad episode 110.

I wanna get fucking ripped tonight. But I am exhausted. I had a six page proposal to do. Sucks BALLS but I did it and still managed 6 hours sleep. Still not enough though by any means. And I got work in 40 minutes. Fucking fuck. Not even finished one week of work yet and I know that its too much already. Five days a week, 29 hours this week alone. Not gonna cut it come crunch time, so we'll see. I might just ride this train for now and make as much cash as is possible till I KNOW it'll fuck up school.

Okay, showertime. Where the FUCK did this high temperature come from? God damnit, I had no clean tshirts this morning.

So I thought I'd finish school with a degree, Sheridan Digital Communication Certificate, and CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional). If I wanted to pursue a career in HR, that CHRP designation is a big deal.

Turns out the CHRP is only issued by the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario. Certification requires the completion of post secondary education, membership to the HRPAO, and the completion of two exams: the National Knowledge Exam and the Professional Practice Assessment test. Oh yea, you have to recertify every three years. I'd also have to take a bunch finance and management courses before I could write any of those exams.

I have no problem commiting to it except I don't know what the hell to do after school. That's not an angry or lost statement but just a giant shrug. I just had the misconception that I would be able to step into either HR or CCIT related fields right after graduation. I'm in no rush but at the same time I am. Kinda like chilling in line at a scary ass rollercoaster ride.

Either way nothing is gonna stop me from getting my CBW! Certified Bikini Waxer for those playing at home. Only trouble is getting to Brazil for certification.

FLIPMODE!
