What a bunch of jokers those fuckers at UTM are. Just when nostalgia started to set in:
WARNING: Your disk usage is 393% of the 30MB disk quota. Start cleaning up some files before disk problems arise.
It's like a dirty sequal to a bad horror movie. The dreaded UTM screwjob reaching beyond the grave to dispense one last stab to the back. I'm not really pissed, just amazed.
On the brightside, that's probably the highest percentage I have ever got in university.
Pack your shit boys, HOUSE 77 is moving.

Aight so something more cheerful. I had seen the new Battlestar Galactica miniseries (or at least part of it) quite a while ago. Maybe a full year ago, in fact. I definitely liked what I saw, but figured it was a one-shot deal. Then when I learned it was a series, I was intrigued. Then they started playing episodes on Space. I unfortunately missed most of them, so I asked my dad for the series for Xmas.
Soooo for the past two days all I've done is watch the series. Let the raving commence.
It is a television program (and I use that term loosely) with pretty much everything that a television program or in fact FILM should have. BSG combines a compelling science fiction premise with some very profound human themes, such as religion, philosophy, morality, existentialism, death, life, and romance. It manages to combine them all in a (mostly) believable fashion and has some absolutely fantastic twists regarding the baddies called the Cylons, and what it means to "feel".
What impresses me the most though about the entire series is that it tries to stay away from archetypal T.V story ideas - and when it does use even the slightest hint of them, it twists them out of recognition to make them unique and intriguing.
Oh, and the special effects - for a TV show - are epic. Although one episode where they attack a Cylon base does have some shots reminscient of the original series....which is uh....well....not good. haha
Anyway, go buy it or download it or whatever, but enjoy it!

What the hell is becoming of Toronto? This incident makes me super sad. I cannot believe that there are such blissfully ignorant people who do not understand the ramifications of such horrendous actions.
My response to it is indirect - Paul Martin wants to ban handguns. Stephen Harper, of course, opposes this for the most part. I'm sure as fuck not voting Conservative. That's about all I have to say on the matter.

So last night I went to a high school reunion of sorts. This guy Gord Maguire put it on. He was in pretty much every class I ever had in high school save for a few, and I didn't talk to him the entire night, haha. It's very odd to see everyone there. Some people have changed immensely, others not so much. It was difficult to try and talk to some people, others not. I was happy to see some people...others...not. There WERE a boatload of people though. Like hundreds. It was kind of freaky. Like walking through those unbearably too narrow high school halls (Mayfield had like 2300 students by the time I left, trying to get through some of the halls at the end of the day was like trying to get down the 401 through rushhour with four lanes closed).
But yes, it was a fun experience nonetheless. I did see some people whom I hadn't seen for the better part of five or six years (if they were in OAC or not). I saw one guy I played rugby with, was super surprised to see him. He got huge, like rugby player muscular huge. I chatted with him a while...couldn't remember his name though, haha. SO if you ever get invited to one, just go and get what you can out of it. I didn't expect too much, and indeed not much happened. But it's interesting to see the people you grew up with again...in some cases, haha not all.

i really really want to see this movie. i definitely appreciate the perspective Clooney takes when it comes to celebrities campaigning for politicians. for once it seems like someone actually understands what's going on.

The search for the perfect tone continues. Next pedal has bulletproof housing. Bullet fucking proof. It must be for gangsta guitar players. She's a glorified volume control but she can split your signal to two outs and pan between the two. Imagine the possibilities and pedal combinations! Two amps, two distinct effects layouts, two times the excitement! McCready uses it. I have spent way too much on gear lately. Just be glad I'm feeding this hobby and not on my bowhunting.

Chuuuck Norris. Chuck Norris! Chhhuck Norris. CHUCK NORRIS! Chuck NORRIS. CHUCK Norris. Chuck Norris? Chuck Norris! Chuck Norris!
Sometimes, the things we want most are the hardest to get. That means you have to be even more determined to succeed. That's what it takes to be a winner. You have to want it bad enough to stick with it no matter how tough things get. And things got pretty tough for us down in Florida with... THE DEADLY DOLPHINS.
CHUCK NORRIS KARATE KOMMANDOS!

I guess this is a retraction for something that I've posted in a comment somewhere. Don't ask what brought it up, news or spiritual realignment, whatever. The former position I held on the topic of gay marriage was that it was the union between man and woman. I thought by giving gay marriages a different name and category other than what I perceived to be traditional marriage, that it would be alright. Give them the same benefits married couples share, but don't call it marriage.
It was dumb of me not to see the segregation a separate label generates. I guess part of it comes from my Catholic affiliation and passive acceptance of their teachings. The Church restricts true equality by their homophobic attitude and negative attempts to influence public policy. I doubt God would want to limit the ways we love one another.

Before Pete, Brad, or Andy object, I would like to point out that they promised a kegger in the month of September. It is now December and I have yet to do a single keg stand. How I yearn to wrap my hands around the delicate body of the red plastic cup. Gentlemen, you may break the hearts of countless women, but I ask you to spare mine and throw this kegger.
It's all I want for Christmas.

I went in this morning at 9am expecting to finally complete my written exam for my private pilot's licence. Turns out though that my Chief Flying Instructor - despite saying yesterday that he would come - hasn't shown up and in fact wasn't coming in for the day. So my flight instructor looks at the weather and decides it's a good day for me to fly to St.Catharine's solo.
I must admit I was quite unprepared for that. I had expected bad weather, and only studied for my test, as one would logically do. So I had to scramble to prepare myself for a flight to St.Catharine's. Not a big deal, I figured, as I would in many cases be scrambling to get myself off and up. So I do all I'm supposed to, albeit very exhaustedly, as last night I didn't sleep so well, with thoughts of my soon to arrive Xbox 360 dancing in my head, and a dog drooling, also on my head. I get a plane, I do my walkaround, discover it needs gas - not so hot cuz that will put me behind schedule and I'll have to adjust my itinerary with London Radio (a flight service station with which most flights in Ontario must file flight plans with).
So whatever, I get up into the sky, and things seem okay, just rushed. The first thing I do once I'm clear of Brampton is try to raise London Radio on 126.7MHz and inform them of my deviation from my filed flight plan, as well as double check it's opened. Sooo "London Radio this is Golf Oscar Zulu Delta." ....silence....doesn't matter, they could be busy. A few minutes later I call again "London Radio this is Golf Oscar Zulu Delta."....silence....okay a little odd, I'll wait a bit longer. I call again "London Radio this is Golf Oscar Zulu Delta." Nothing. Okay, I am worried now. I try calling Brampton Unicom...nothing. Try again. Nothing. I try London again. Nothing. Sooo I turned around and landed and Brampton. Spent $150 for basically no purpose other than to frustrate me and mentally sap me some more. The radios transmit and recieve, but clearly not at that great a distance. Soooo here I am now, at home. I went home because I am tired, and frustrated, and I'd make mistakes which could lead to bad things happening. So all in all, it's been a frustrating freaking day.

So here I am, at home, again. No flying today. No flying since the 23rd of November. I am starting to get kind of stir-crazy. I have decided that I passionately hate water vapour. Without water vapour, the skies would be clear of cloud and precipitation, and visibility would be a trillion times better. So I vote that we allow global warming to continue until all the water vapour evapourates into space. That would solve EVERYTHING...minus the death of all life on earth.
The weekend was good, went to Fresh on Saturday with Jesse, Ashley and her friend Connie. Then went to a party and Pauper's Pub. I almost prefer Pauper's to Madison's. It's a bit easier to find people and it's homier, though it's a bit emptier too. That being said, we showed up at like 1am on a night where there was huge flurries, so that might explain it. But yah, the highlight of the entire night was "So why don't you two go downstairs and have sex?" Oh my. That was WITTY.
And yesterday my dad bought his third digital camera in as many years. He's finally taken the plunge into the SLR world, by getting a Nikon D50, with an 18-70mm Nikor lens, and a 70-300mm Nikor lens. I must say, I've not had a chance to handle SLRs really before, so I am impressed. I shall undoubtedly soon have some photos to post!

Stretch it out. Breathe in. Breathe out. Wallet, check. Phone, check. Keys, check. Lace up the sneaks. Zip up the coat. Secure the toque. And we're off.
Tonight is going to be a disaster.
