Remember how we were all thinking about how awful the weather was last week? Remember how cold and miserable it was? The rain. The fog. The misty mornings waking up and thinking "today is a good day to stay at home in bed curled up with a good book or watching a good movie". The chill temperatures that cut right through to your bones. The dreary wet drive to work or class or just to a friends.
Remember how awful the summer is in Ontario? The soaring temperature. The blistering sun. The debilitating humidity. The constricting smog and smoke. The sunburns. The constant sweating. The feeling of being baked alive.
Remember how awful the winter is....
And so continues the one true thing that defines the Canadian identity...bitching about the weather.

=======2-FOR-1-POST=======
My friends buy 40 inch plasma screens, xbox360s, and condos.
I buy bulletproof guitar pedals.
I got suckered into the purchase though. I'm three blocks away from Steve's when I say to myself, "wait a minute, that was a pressure buy!" Steve's is one of those places you shouldn't bad mouth. It is a mecca for the rockstars and wannabes in Toronto. Luckily I belong with the latter. I'm not saying the guy ripped me off. I'm saying the guy cornered me, grabbed my wallet, and threw the pedal at my face.
I'm pretty sure every good salesperson has their own method and can ad lib a script based on the patsy/customer. I am only now recognizing this form of art in commerce.
No matter what pedal you're looking at inside Steve's, they will always say that someone else was just looking at it. Go inside and point to anything, I promise you they will say this. Four times for four different items is not a coincidence. They will say it is the last one. They will rush you to the cashier for your deposit. They will make the sale.
==========================
Good news. This temping position will result into a contract by the middle of summer. Bad news. The position will not be in Toronto but in Brampton. Good news. I will finally have a salary. Bad news. It is not a design or HR position.
I do have the choice to go along or to decline. There will be no animosity with management if I decide to resign and find a design gig. References a plenty.
I have options and time. Do I move the pawn? Sacrifice the knight? Or check the King... nah man, for now Imma pin the Queen.

So I haven't posted in a while. Life has been kinda dull. I swear I've done something to offend mother nature. This week I was given a week of "All-day flight training". Essentially this equates to no classes. And of course, the one week we are given this, is the same week that the weather decides to unzip and piss on Southern Ontario all week. Oh well. Lots of time to play Xbox 360 demos from E3, and also send my car in to the shop, to discover it needs about $1500 worth of parts. Not just things I can ignore either. Like new drum brakes, and tire rods, and wheel bearings...and tires.
I don't really want a broken tire rod, or a broken wheel bearing, or something to go wrong with the brakes (okay that last photo has nothing to do with faulty brakes, I just thought it was hilarious). I also don't want to go skidding off the road and cause an accident. (this photo meanwhile is entirely applicable to my car, even the Venezeula part!!...maybe).
Anyway the Ford Prostitute (or Escort Wagon Special Edition to those who aren't in the know) will hopefully be back up taxiing friends shortly. I was tempted to pimp my ride, or pimp my wagon if you will...but I decided instead that Stationwagons are cool enough by themselves.
Onward and upward to video games!
Meantime...

this was brought to my attention today, and while it sounds a lot like a similar fund raiser involving hockey sticks, i still think it's a great idea.

hahahaha, so, apparently it's all of the violent video games and internet smut that's promoting racism in russia. it obviously has NOTHING to do with the fact that maybe the government is leading by example and oppressing minority groups within their own boarders. no no no, we've never heard of Chechnya. i mean, it's not like that's an example of governmentally sanctioned racism. it's not like the russian people could be just following the lead of their government. OBVIOUSLY it's the fact that nazi's win in video games.
can anyone name me a video game where the nazis actually win? i mean besides a game like Brothers in Arms where you can play skirmish mode as both the Axis and Allies. i mean, name me a game where nazis are the heros.

HOUSE 77 version 2.2 update 04-MAY-06
H77 finally looks the same on all browsers. Updated the broken CSS file. Netscape and Firefox users should see the little differences in formatting. We also have a new host.
I'm still trying to find a fix for Andy's lameness. So far no luck. We hope to fix that problem by version 3.0
May the W3C gods smile upon us.

Maybe I'm way behind posting this but check out the latest Superman Returns trailer. *drool* the special effects for when the plane is going down are just incredible. I still think the actor looks a little young for the part but I imagine I will get over that in a hurry. Oh MAN does it ever look pretty.

Been a hell of a weekend...it started on Thursday when I went to go see the venerable Sam Roberts play at the Phoenix Concert Theatre. What a show...the opener, called Malajube, was actually pretty good, though I couldnt understand a word they were saying, being pure-blooded francophone Quebecois. They started with some weird, weird song but after that they did an awesome job.
Sam just...well...haha wow. The highlights were Mind Flood and Where Have All the Good People gone. Mind Flood in particular was just INSANE. haha at first the song had some crazy stereo effects jumping back and forth in your ears...I swear that if someone went to that show on acid, they'd have curled into a ball in fear from the noises. I had to do a few doubletakes myself wondering if I was hearing the song right because it was so otherworldly. But yah...I would put the show right up there with his performance at Olympic Island many moons ago, and with my other fav shows, performed by BSS and The Mars Volta.
So then I went to go and see Moneen on Sunday. They were opening for Saves the Day. We caught the opener...uhmm...no idea who it was. And they sounded like a lot of other crappy bands. They also sounded awful cuz the sound being produced by the speakers was the equivalent of taking a tin can to a guitar. The crowd was awful too. I dislike all ages shows a lot. I mean...I know I was a kid once...and I always used to think that the "old people" (ie. our age...) were crazy for not getting in the pit. Now...fine...I can still see the purpose behind the mosh pit. But seriously...none of these kids actually DID that. They just stood there dressed like freaking vampires, with their stupid fake black tears coming from their eyes. Ugh. I dont see how that fashion sense ties in to whiny emo music...ESPECIALLY Moneen's whiny emo music. Which...alas...suffered quite badly at this show.
Like I said, the crowd was not jumping up and down, as they should have been. They just stood there. I mean...yah...so did I...but I'm old now, and lazy, haha. But yah...the sound was AWFUL. So tinny...even the bass sounded like it was all treble and no actual bass. The crowd was pretty subdued too. Like they just didnt cheer or scream or anything...I at least did THAT. They played mostly old stuff, which was a shame really because I love their new album. But yah...it was pretty disappointing. ANd don't even get me started on Saves the Day...I swear every single song sounded EXACTLY the same. There were no tempo changes...no slower songs, or ones with a faster beat...no...it was all just sort of middle of the road rock-pop-punk. They don't really appreciate how to build up tension in the crowd by varying their songs live. So while this may not be the worst show I've ever seen...it was certainly the most disappointing. The worst was at the Steam Whistle indie show...opera and hard rock mixed together...yah...there's a winning combo.
And now I am sick as a dog from a lack of sleep. Suuuuper. On the bright side, I am now rated to fly at night...so night flights over Toronto or Niagara Falls can happen...pretty freaking cool!
