Raging Alcoholic Boy Drunk Report:
Haven't done one of these in a while. Last night wasn't too heavy on the drinking, but I figured I'd bring to the attention of you all a little establishment called the Beer Station. Now, I'd be the first to say it's a bit of a dive. But it has the World Tour of Beer. Basically they have like 80 types of beer, and you get a card, as you drink them, they mark it off. When you've completed the entire list, you get a free jacket. I don't so much care about the free jacket but I like the concept. And the beer list is relatively extensive. For example, Steffen and I tried Trois Pistoles, haha oh man. 9% Quebec dark ale. The bottle has a freaking flying horse on it! What more could you ask for? It actually tasted pretty good too, I was surprised.

Anyway we chilled out, had a fair number of drinks, and shot the shit. Was good times. I highly recommend others come join us there again. It's directly next to Paupers, with the ridiculous blue and white sign.

DJ Kentaro!!! It gets real intense at 3:27
---------------------------------------------

Like a painter that doesn't paint or a dancer that doesn't dance, I am a DJ that doesn't spin.

I don't even own a single piece of vynil (my pops has led-zeppelin, the saturday night fever soundtrack, kenny rogers the gambler, and rod stewart records somewhere in this house), but I NEED a dj name.

Jono told me that trying to get an original domain name is hard. I'd argue coming up with an original DJ name is just as hard. As original as I thought these were, they were taken:

DJ Barrister
DJ Google
DJ Noname
DJ Drix
DJ Drixx
DJ 77 (this guy ain't half bad)

You could always come up with something cool like Kid Koala, RJD2, or Dan The Automator. Coming up with something that cool is next to impossible.

How bout DJ Frets?

Maybe the monicker is second to their actual work. DJ Monicker? Monicker5000? Fuck.

Aphorism of the day: The more you dance, the more you romance.

They're asking business casual.
Oi, seriously I just woke up and the last thing I want to do is iron my shirt. As reluctant as I am to dress up and trek it to Mrs.Sauga, the H77 chapter has to represent. It'll be good to see CCIT ppl though.

Today for the first time I flew IFR (instrument flight regulations) actual. I have done IFR simulated, but never actual. Oh my, was it ever fun. We went into cloud at 3000 feet, and were inside of it until 5000 feet. When you are going straight though it, it's like you are in a thick soup of fog (which is really the same as cloud anyway). We actually broke out into a giant hole inside the cloud as well - but a cloud that had neither blue sky above nor the ground below. Was really neat to see just all cloud around you in a sort of mile wide swiss-cheese show-off.

Then there was above the clouds, oh MAN was being above the clouds amazing. At around 4900 feet we broke out, and so we were skimming right over the tops of them. I got a couple photos, I'll put those on my Picasa space soon, and hopefully video if I can figure out how. It was a lot of fun.

In more sad news, my brand new freaking camera has to go in to Canon for repairs. There is a nice sexy dark spot on every photo I've ever taken. It's only really apparent in blue sky ones so while I noticed it before I thought it had gone away and was just dust. Apparently not so. *sigh*

For some reason I swear that the BBC news doesn't take Canada seriously as a nation.

I was going to use Picasa's post feature to blog my photos from Chicago directly, but screw it. Instead just go
here to see the photos.

I have put captions underneath to describe everything, and vaguely tell the tale of how I ended up getting stuck in Windsor at two in the morning on Monday.

Seven hours sleep in two days, along with eight hours of flying makes for a very tiring and frustrating weekend. It involved customs problems (not what you might think though...mostly that they were CLOSED in London, ugh), my co-pilot managing to lose our aircraft documents (which are legally required to fly), and some rather late start times which lead to problems further down the line.

But anyway I was very happy to go to see Chicago. It really is a beautiful city. I just wish I'd had more time to explore it.

So I'm in the Windy City. Flew in here last night. Was a pretty uneventful trip. The most entertaining aspect of the trip was the American air traffic controllers stumbling over our callsign. See in the U.S, aircraft are given designators like 12345AB or 678CD, with numbers then letters. But Canadian aircraft all have five letters, and it always begins with a C. So our callsign was C-GNUE. Or Charlie Golf November Uniform Echo. So just past Detroit we got transferred over to Lansing Approach, and we call them, and we get back "Charliee.....uh...Golf...November Uniform Echo." It was hilarious because the speed at which they could spit out the numbers was epically fast, but saying our callsign was a struggle like no other for them.

Anyway, other than that, things went fine. Although crossing customs was an ordeal. But not the kind you'd think. The girl who was processing us? Yah...she had NO clue whatsoever what she was doing. She was asking US what she had to do. Was a struggle.

Today I am going out with Mak and his cousin Noman to see the sites, so expect photos in a day or two.

Mmmm...can't wait to get me some Chicago deep-dish.
